Cameras Disappear

I have a setup where sometimes the operating system loses the cameras, so that FireView --scanbus does not find any cameras. But sometimes everything works fine. How to fix this?

With some computers we have had the experience that the cameras disappear from the bus. The cameras then re-appear after the computer is booted or some other similar activity.

Typically the problems are caused by failing FireWire connectors or defective FireWire cards/cameras. The cables may also brake down, although that is more rare. How-ever, the source of the problems can be in many places, including operating system FireWire drivers.

To fix the issues we recommend that the users check all cables and connections, and try changing some of the components. Usually the FireWire card is easiest to change, so one could start from those.
