Update 27.5.2010

Update 7.5.2010

  • Performance and reliability in Flash SDK have been improved. See the download section for an updated MultiTouch Flash SDK.

Update 8.3.2010 (release 3298)

  • The Windows-7 native driver (for 32-bit Windows kernel) is now included in the download area, mtcell-win7. It has been tested to work on a single LCD Cell (32 & 46 inches). To use the driver, please follow the readme that is included in the package.
  • The Flash/AS3 SDK has been updated, and it should now support hierarchical widgets better than it used to.

Update 8.2.2010 (release 3165)

  • The OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard dependencies have been updated. This should remove unnecessary FireWire warnings, and correct some pgk-config include paths.
  • The Latest Linux releases now have a better mouse-emulation support, which works with multi-display X11 setups.

Update 22.1.2010 (release 3120)

  • Windows 7, 64-bits preview version of CornerStone has been released. The 64-bit version only works with Point Grey camera drivers (CMU drivers are not applicable on this platform). The supported features are identical to the 32-bit release at this point. The native Windows 7 Touch driver will take some time to mature, due to 64-bit driver signing issues. As this is the first release of its kind, there can be issues that we have not found out previously.
  • Mutexes are now non-recursive be default. This change was done since recursive mutexes have lower performance, and even some usage limitations (on Windows).

Update 21.1.2010 (release 3108)

  • The latest Windows release was done with Windows 7, 32-bits. It should also work with Windows XP. This release merges a lot of code from our work on 64-bit Windows support, so there might be rough edges. If there are issues, please send bug reports. This release supports the use the CornerStone C++/Flash APIs and TUIO/XML-streams. The Windows Touch -driver is not yet part of the release, but it is coming along.

Update 22.12.2009 (release 3028)

  • New binaries for OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard are now in the download area. This release fixes a FireWire problem that affected (at least) Mac Pro users.

Update 7.12.2009 (release 2972)

  • First binaries for OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard are now in the download area. As this is the first 64-bit OS X release, there might be rough edges. Please report any issues that come up.
  • Starting from this release CornerStone is using Qt's XML engine rather than Xerces to read and write XML document. From user perspective this means that the the 3rd party libraries are now a bit more lightweight. This change applies to all platforms except Ubuntu 8.10, where the change is not possible, due to license issues.

Update 26.11.2009 (release 2924)

  • The Download section now contains debian packages for Ubuntu 9.10, 32-bits. This is the first 9.10 release, so there might be rough edges. In such cases, please report any issues.

Update 27.10.2009 (release 2821)

  • The OS X third-party packages have been updated. The new packaging updates the video codecs and reduces the package size quite a bit (from 300MB to 19MB). Release 2821 will not work with the older 3rd party packages, and releases earlier will not work with the new 3rd party packages. This is quite a significant change, and we hope that it does not brake anything.

  • The computer vision has been updated. All those who set the "width-cm" to 80 centimeters on 46-inch boxes can return the value to the (more correct) 110cm.

Update 9.10.2009 (release 2739)

  • The Poetic font renderer was optimized, resulting in significant speed-up.
  • A small bug in the image management was found a fixed - releasing images could corrupt memory in some cases.
  • The computer vision layer has been updated, to handle difficult situations better. We hope this works for all users.
  • This is the final release for Ubuntu 8.04 systems. There will be no more updates for Ubuntu 8.04. We recommend a system upgrade to 9.04 for all Ubuntu 8.04 users.

Update 29.9.2009 (release 2698)

  • The new windows packages include the HTML API documentation, that was already included in the Linux and OS X versions.
  • The plugin API beta is now working under Windows, Linux and OS X

Update 18.9.2009 (release 2651)

  • The computer vision layer has been tuned a bit, to provide better error resistance. This is ongoing work, but the tracking is generally considered more robust now.
  • Alpha-tests were added to the ImageWidgets
  • New "bouncy" animations were added to the standard animator classes.

Update 13.8.2009 (release 2416)

  • The FireWire camera management is now improved on OSX and Linux. It can do partial-frame camera capture, which gives a bit more flexibility regarding the way FireWire bandwidth is used.
  • More work was done on the video player engine. Valgrind found a few bugs for us, and now it is more stable again.

Update 4.8.2009 (release 2377)

  • The geometric calibration now uses a 5-point calibration, instead of the 4-point calibration, this gives sharper tracking in the center of the image
  • The Windows release is now done using an MSI-installer, which should simplify the installation a bit. Hopefully it does not break anything.

Update 27.7.2009

  • The ViewWidget got a few bug-fixes, which are appearing in the new releases.
  • The HTML API documentation formatting was optimized for better readability. As a side effect the SDK distribution packages are now much smaller.
  • New OSX packages have been released and others will follow.

Update 17.6.2009

The Windows TCP socket layer was re-written, using Qt sockets under the hood. This fixed all the known bugs in the windows XML socket layer. From now on, the Windows version relies on the Qt 4.5 core libraries.

New Windows packages have been released.

Update 13.6.2009

The C++ API was simplified a bit. Now the GarbageCollector pointer does not need to be carried around all over the place. In future releases the relevant functionality is instead handled behind the scenes. This change affects the users of the MultiWidgets interaction framework.

Update 25.5.2009

New Flash SDK material made its way into the server. This includes some examples that utilize the Flash time-line.
